Some regions of the Brazilian coast are full of mangroves and, therefore, Brazil accounts to 15% of the world's total. The mangroves play an important role in preserving the ecosystem due to coastal and endangered species protection, as well as for being a natural nursery. In this picture I caught part of its ramified roots. This picture was taken in January 2011, in the Northeast of Brazil.
